YThe Tools palette provides buttons that help you move through the text, mark pages, access research tools, and read summaries and commentaries of every act and scene in the play.You can make the Tools palette appear (or disappear) in three ways:– Select it from the Macbeth menu– Press -T– Click in the gray patterned area to the left of the text. (If you have the Notepad or other floating windows open, you may have to click twice.)When the Tools palette is visible, you can move it to any convenient place on the screen. The Tools palette will add or remove some of its buttons, depending upon which section of the Voyager Macbeth is currently open.The following tools are available in all sections of the Voyager Macbeth: • Contents. To see a pop-up menu listing the main sections in the Voyager Macbeth, click this button.• Help. To bring up the Help window, click this button.• Notepad. To display the Notepad, click this button.• Find. To specify a word or words that you want to find in the Voyager Macbeth, click this button.• Retrace. Retrace remembers the last fifteen pages you visited, including pages in different sections of the Voyager Macbeth. – To go to the page you viewed most recently, click Retrace once. – To choose from a pop-up menu of the previous fifteen pages you viewed, hold the mouse down on Retrace and select the desired page.• Page. Page lets you go to any other page quickly.– To go to the next page of the current section, click the arrow to the right of Page. – To go to the previous page of the current section, click on the arrow to the left of Page. – To specify any section and page, click the word Page and enter the desired information.• Mark. Marking pages lets you quickly return to a desired page. – To fold (or “dog-ear”) the corner of the page you are reading, click Mark. – To unmark a page that’s already marked, click the Mark button again.– To go to the next marked page, click the arrow to the right of Mark; to go to the previous marked page, click the arrow to the left of Mark.– To attach a one-line message to a marked page, hold the mouse down on the Mark button and select “Mark this page with a message.” Then, enter the desired text.– To choose from a pop-up list of all dog-eared pages and their corresponding sections, hold the mouse down on the Mark button and select from the list. If you marked any pages with a message, the message will be displayed here. • Gauge. The Progress gauge provides a visual representation of how far you are within the currently open section of the Voyager Macbeth. To show or hide the Progress gauge for the current section, click the Gauge button. For more information about the gauge, see the Help topic “Moving Through Macbeth.” • Research Tools. Several research tools are available, including a list of the abbreviations used in the Voyager Macbeth, a line-finding tool, and a character appearances chart. To access the tools, hold the mouse down on Research Tools. For a complete description of these tools, see the Help topic “Research Tools.”The following additional tools are available on the Tools palette in the pages of the “Tragedy of Macbeth” section (which contains the play). These tools allow you to access various levels of annotations and to read act and scene commentaries and summaries.• Annotations. – To show or hide annotation marks, click this button once. – To read the Detailed Notes for the current page, and control whether the Find feature searches the Detailed Notes, hold the mouse down on this button and select the desired setting from the list. This button provides an alternate way to read the act commentaries that are provided in the “Summaries and Commentaries” section of the Voyager Macbeth. – To see the current act commentary in a window without leaving your page in the play, click Act Commentary once. – To select from a pop-up menu listing all the act commentaries, hold the mouse down on the Act Commentary button. • Scene Commentary. This button provides an alternate way to read the individual scene commentaries that are provided in the “Summaries and Commentaries” section. – To view the current scene commentary without leaving your page in the play, click Scene Commentary once. – To select from a pop-up menu listing all the scene commentaries, hold the mouse down on the Scene Commentary button.• Scene Summary.
